Crayfish IUCN Red List
Training and Assessments

Many crayfish IUCN Red List assessments have not been updated since 2015. In recent years major advances in taxonomy, distribution data, and conservation actions have left these previous assessments outdated. This hands-on workshop is designed to provide members with the tools to update crayfish assessments through a trained, collaborative effort.

Participants will be asked to complete the official IUCN Red List Assessor certification prior to the workshop. During the workshop, we will work collaboratively to determine how to apply the Red List criteria consistently across all crayfish with the goal of developing a shared understanding of best practices for interpreting threats, population trends, and data deficiencies.

Attendees will update red list assessments in real time during the workshop and develop a workflow that they can take back home with a ‘to-do’ list of species to assess.
